Staying true to our challenger values, I’mPOSSIBLE has been chosen to host a groundbreaking panel entitled: ‘Gentrifying Genius: urban creators stripped bare‘ at this year’s SXSW (South by South West) festival on Tuesday, March 14 at 11am CST. The panel will explore themes around The Fader’s article: “Black Teens Are Breaking The Internet And Seeing None Of The Profits” in a solutions-focused manner that will not only discuss the eco system that maintains the inequalities but also ways to protect and monetize their creative genius on social media. Black and brown youth are missing out on fruitful and ultimately life changing opportunities and rewards from their intellectual property which remains wildly popular but unpaid and uncredited.

Michael D. Armstrong is Executive Vice President and General Manager, Revenue and Emerging Brands, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN). In this role, Armstrong manages the development and expansion of BET, Paramount Channel, and Spike internationally and oversees International Program Sales, Affiliate Sales, and VIMN’s ad sales division, Viacom Velocity International.
Armstrong first joined the company in 1998 and held a variety sales and affiliate marketing roles for brands including MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and CMT in both the New York and Chicago offices. He joined VIMN in 2011 as Senior Vice President and General Manager of BET International and Paramount Channel, having previously been at BET Networks from May 2006.
Evans is an expert in intellectual property law, trusts and estates law and entertainment law. She has a creative background as a published author and poet and her competitive, disciplined background as a former professional tennis player.
Evans writes primarily about the impact of new technology and new forms of artistic expression on copyright law. She also explores the intersection of intellectual property and trusts and estates law in her scholarship. Evans is the author of an award-winning series of legal reference guides for writers and publishing industry professionals, which were selected by Writer’s Digest Book Club® as club selections for its members. Professor Evans is a nationally recognized speaker who presents to various audiences regularly on publishing law and intellectual property law, in particular.
Devin Johnson is the President and COO of Uninterrupted, the Warner Bros and Time Warner-backed digital media sports platform founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter. Since joining in 2016, Johnson has successfully released a slew of original content including the documentary Fight Mom, the short form series Rebuilt with Chris Bosh and the platform’s first scripted series, Now We’re Talking (currently on Verizon’s go90).
Previously, Johnson was at NBC Universal and Tribune Interactive assuming many digital roles. He received his BBA from the University of Michigan and MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
